The planning of the iron ore transport route from Pajala to Kemi has stopped
The mining company Northland Resources Inc. has chosen the Port of Narvik in Norway for its shipments of iron ore from the mine in Pajala, Sweden. As a result, the proposed alternative to ship iron ore via Kemi in Finland is no longer an option. The planning work of the iron ore transport route from Pajala to Kemi has stopped and the project, which was included in the 2011 budget proposal, will not be carried out. This was announced by the Finnish Transport Agency on 28 September 2010.
