The purpose of the research and development activities of the Finnish Transport Agency is to generate new innovations to improve the efficiency and quality of the operations and simultaneously to maintain and promote the accumulation of know-how in the transport and infrastructure field.

Climate change mitigation, travel and transport chains that better meet the needs of the customers, safety and environmental issues as well as efficient transport infrastructure management are on the Finnish Transport Agency’s R&D agenda in 2011–2014. R&D programs are built up and projects implemented in cooperation with our interest groups.
